Blades
Figure skate blades are an important component of an ice skate. Deciding on which figure skating blade is right for you depends on many factors such as what kind of elements you are doing and personal preference. We carry every type of ice skating blades from recreational to high level. Choose from figure skating blade brands like Ultima Apex Blades, Ultima Matrix Blades, Paramount Blades, Wilson Blades, Wilson Revolution Blades MK Blades, MK Revolution and Eclipse Blades.
A figure skating blade has a hollow groove down the bottom runner creating two distinct edges — inside and outside. Ice skating blades are designed to glide on one edge of the blade and not on both at the same time, which is referred to as a flat edge. During a spin, skaters use the "sweet spot" of the blade, which is the roundest portion of the blade, just behind the pick and near the middle of the blade. Skates used in single and pair skating have a set of large, jagged teeth called toe picks on the front of the blade. Toe picks are mainly used for the take-off on jumps. Ice dancing blades are an inch shorter in the rear and have smaller toe picks.
